Must Install Software
Each time I have to rebuild my laptop I always make a list of the great open source or freeware products that I need to install. I will expand this list as needed. If you have any recommendations please drop a comment.
- FileZilla - FTP
- MWSnap - Screen captures
- VIM - Text editor
- ActivePerl - Perl distro for Windows
- Firefox, Opera - Browsers for testing
- CamStudio - Screen recordings
- 7-Zip - File compression
- PowerShell - Microsoft’s new .NET command line environment
- RealVNC - Control another PC remotely

Hi!
Try to use DameWare instead of OpenVPN - it is very cool. I’m using it a lot within my organizataion (200+ PCs and notebooks), and it really simplify the administration (I’m not related with DameWare in any way
). The main advantage: you don’t have to install the client on the remote machine - if you know user’s credentials it would be installed remotely. And it’s faster… Distadvantages: you have to pay for it
